Historical Novels Review

Hard to credit, but after 2017 and the twentieth anniversary of the Historical Novel Society, this year – May 2022 – was the 100th issue.

A printed magazine has been a core feature since 1997, when Solander was first printed. I collaborated with Claire Morris on Solander from 2005 to 2012.  when it merged with its sister publication, the Historical Novels Review.  HNR is a quarterly magazine.

The publisher (and founder of HNS) is Richard Lee (follow on Twitter @histnovsoc).  On the editorial side, Bethany Latham is Managing Editor, while I’m Features Editor. The magazine also has an excellent genre-specific review section, managed from the US by Sarah Johnson and a team of review editors.

Each issue has seven features on recently published historical novels and/or writing themes, so get in touch if you’re interested in suggesting a topic for a future issue!
